Eclipse

Eclipse - this is 80s rock from Erlangen, Germany, hometown of mp3. Seventeen years after the band's farewell concert, Eclipse entered the regional stages again twice in 2003 and 2004. Three songs, which are available for download, demonstrate the vigorous sound of Eclipse's rock songs. They were live recorded at the revival concert in Erlangen and prove that the band still knows how to make real music.

sushifarm - brandnew alternative rock from Germany. Driving grooves and clever songwriting spiced with infectious melodies. Formed early 2004, sushifarm is a new band which just finished their first recordings. The Latin formation Con Mucho Gusto, based in Cologne, came into being in the beginning of 2004 through the initiative of vibraphonist Matthias Strucken and percussionist Augusto “Manolo” Stahlke.

Beyond the standard cast for Latin American music – trumpet, piano, bass, percussion and drums – the music of Con Mucho Gusto creates its own, typical sound adding a scarcely played instrument, the vibraphone. The pieces offer substantial space for improvisation, and all instruments take turns in extensive solos.

Apart from topical as well as classical titles of samba, bossa and salsa-jazz the repertoire of Con Mucho Gusto comprises personal compositions of band leader Matthias Strucken.

In spring 2004, the band performed first recordings for a CD. This was followed by various gigs e.g. at Trossingen, Remscheid, Heidelberg, Dilsberg, Bonn and finally at the “Cologne Jazz Night” and in the “Stadtgarten” in Cologne. Currently, Con Mucho Gusto consists of Matthias Strucken (vibraphone), Jan Schneider (trumpet), Florian Weber (piano), Robert Landfermann (bass), Ralf Gessler (drums) and Augusto “Manolo” Stahlke (percussion). All six were members of the renowned jazz orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany (BujazzO) conducted by Peter Herbolzheimer. Concert tours have led the musicians through the whole of Germany and to Belarussia, Greece, Spain, South Korea and South Africa.

Being one of Germany's most successful live bands, Fiddler's Green released an impressive live DVD in 2005: "CELEBRATE!". It is the recording of the 1000th concert of the band, which took place at a picturesque castle.

Pulsating ska rhythms combined with powerful guitar riffs, reggae grooves blended with venerable Celtic folk tunes and unconventional ballad arrangements tiptoeing into your auditory channels ... These are the words a music journalist might choose to describe Fiddler's Green, but words cannot convey what goes on at a Fiddler's Green gig - it is something to be enjoyed first hand.

People of all ages and classes come together to form a diverse crowd. And all of these people start dancing together as soon as the first notes are played on the stage. Family types join in with spiky-haired punks, little children dance together with rockers - you won't believe it until you've seen it. And even if an audience has never heard about - let alone seen - Fiddler's Green, it usually doesn't take longer than three songs to make the crowd grow wild. It's not an uncommon thing to see people dancing on the tables ...

The recipe? Mix light-hearted Irish folk songs with hard rock guitars, groovy bass guitar rhythms and aggressive drum beats. Add the drive of violin sounds and the perkiness of an accordion and there you go. We almost forgot one essential ingredient: an energetic zest for life - something Fiddler's Green hold in abundance. This music just carries you away. And when you watch the lads jump on stage feet whirling in the air, jumping and dancing, Tobias darting across the stage seizing his violin - you simply cannot sit still. Finally, when Fiddler's Green are called back to the stage by a roaring crowd, even hard-core sceptics realise that these gentlemen know how to captivate their audience!

The Irish traditional "Tarry Trousers 2005" was recorded live and mixed in 5.1 multi-channel sound. The live atmosphere is shown to it's best advantage. It's like standing in the midst of the crowd...
