Bluetooth is a radio system which is suited for the transmission of voice as well as data. It was planned as replacement for cable and infrared. Bluetooth offers transmission rates from 57 kbit/s to 721 kbit/s and has a coverage of 10m (at 1mW) or 100m (at 100mW). The 2.4 GHz ISM-band is designed for Bluetooth. Bluetooth supports ad-hoc networks with a maximum of 8 members.
