Integrated Circuits and Systems
Development of mixed analog/ digital circuits is one of the core competencies of the Fraunhofer IIS. Regular Multi-Project-Wafer programs and cooperation contracts with our industrial foundries allow us to offer complete solutions comprising IC development, design services, prototyping and pilot fabrication with a proven transition to high volume production directly through our foundries.
By the end of 2005 the Project Group for Optical Communications moved to Erlangen to exploit the synergies with the IC Design activities and to widen its scientific spectrum into the area of optical sensors.
In the field of mixed-signal ASICs the Fraunhofer IIS finished several industrial ASIC developments and started a project together with the Austrian Space Research Institute (IWF) to develop a fluxgate magnetometer for future space missions. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research a joint research project for driver assistance systems based on 3D Hall sensors was launched together with several automotive suppliers.
We are also pleased that the EC funding for EUROPRACTICE extended for three more years which allows to continue to support European universities in educating qualified IC designers.
