Fraunhofer IIS audio encoder and decoder for Android and the Apple iPhone SDK

Fraunhofer IIS supplies optimized audio encoder and decoder libraries for use with Android-based systems, the Apple iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) and other mobile platforms. This versatile family of technologies enables radio stations, service providers and media player developers to introduce or improve mobile services incorporating industry-leading audio quality for smart phones.
High quality audio codecs by Fraunhofer IIS allow for a new generation of mobile services such as Internet radio for Android devices and the iPhone by:

  • Boosting the audio quality of mobile multimedia applications
  • Minimizing bandwidth requirements (HE-AAC v2 offers up to 50 percent better compression efficiency compared to other codecs enabling good stereo service quality at 32 kbit/s)
