Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits
CDs and other physical sound recording media are now increasingly the domain of the seasoned audiophile, with many music-lovers opting to take a more convenient route and purchase music in digital formats from one of the many online services now available. The benefits for both producers and retail portal operators from this change in consumer behaviour could be immense. As this new world of music consumption takes shape, Fraunhofer IIS is ready to provide technologies which allow for lossless storage of music content at a quality superior to that offered by CD. Online distribution of surround sound content is also an option thanks to effective compression and compatibility with conventional players.
