DAB/DMB ContentServer 

 The Fraunhofer DAB ContentServer™ R5 is a highly reliable professional broadcast system for DAB/DMB (Digital Radio “Eureka 147 DAB/DMB”). It handles all DAB/DMB data and audio services and offers all interfaces for a smooth integration into the broadcast chain. 








The Fraunhofer DAB ContentServerTM R5 provides triple functionality:

  • DAB AudioServer with multistream real-time audio encoding for MPEG Audio Layer II and DAB+, including DAB Surround option
  • DMB Gateway  inserting DMB video streams into a DAB Multiplex
  • Multimedia DataServer (“Fraunhofer MMDS”) providing all standardized as well as proprietary mechanisms for data collection, import, processing, encoding, and broadcast

The Fraunhofer DAB/DMB ContentServer™ R5 creates any number of standard compliant DAB audio, packet mode or DMB subchannels, and simultaneously inserts PAD (Programme Associated Data) into any number of internal and external DAB audio encoders.

 

Applications

 The system is typically located in the studio, in a playout center or at the transmitter site – with full remote control for administration and data provision. The remote web interface featuring Fraunhofer´s in-place-editing technology for quick and convenient system configuration and monitoring can be accessed through a web browser. 

 

Availability

The Fraunhofer DAB ContentServer™ R5 is available in three editions (option packages). All editions share all basic DAB/DMB function sets, although each edition provides a different level of system functionality as a starting point, to accomplish typical use case scenarios. All editions can be extended easily by additional features at all times.

The system as a complete package, including hardware and specific customer support services, is available from Fraunhofer’s OEM partners.
