CURATOR Archive Suite

The CURATOR Archive Suite is a software suite especially designed for digital film archives. Based on the standardized JPEG 2000 profiles for digital archiving, Fraunhofer IIS provides tools for the generation and processing of Master Archive Package (MAP) and Intermediate Access Package (IAP). For more explanation see also EDCINE project. A lossless compressed MAP is intended to be the long-term storage format for digital media whereas a lossy compressed IAP can be used for a high quality access package within an archive. The CURATOR Archive Suite comes with three software components:

  • JPEG 2000 QuickTime Component - expands your existing postproduction tool with a Quicktime codec that allows to create MAP- and IAP-compliant JPEG 2000 images,
  • CURATOR Creator – the creator accepts many different input image formats like TIFF, DPX, JPG, BMP as well as QuickTime movies and
  • CURATOR Player – the playback and quality assurance tool for archive packages as well as for various MXF files containing JPEG 2000 compressed images.
