JPEG 2000 System on Chip
The JPEG2000 System on Chip allows the compression of HD and 2k video-streams in real-time. By compression in the JPEG 2000 format highest image quality is achieved, visually as well as fully mathematically lossless compression is supported.
At present a fully integrated circuit solution is under development, a FPGA based technology demonstrator is available. It receives a HD video-stream compatible to HD-SDI deserializer chips and streams the JPEG 2000 encoded data to an Ethernet interface.d
The System on Chip concept with integrated RISC processor allows for flexible adaption to a wide range of applications. Compared to FPGA based solutions, the little required space and the low power consumption of the ASIC will make it ideal for integrating it into HD cameras.
