Discovering a New Dimension
Whether they are on stage alongside a pop star, hurtling down a bobsled track with the professionals or enjoying a next-level movie theater experience, 3D imagery literally offers viewers a whole new dimension. Dedicated technology is present at every stage of the 3D value chain, from image recording using special camera systems to post-production to the eventual display of content on a theater or television screen. Fraunhofer IIS is involved in a number of research projects aimed at developing new 3D-related technologies. One example is the government-sponsored PRIME project , which has seen the development of novel concepts and ideas for the next generation of camera systems as well as of special algorithms for 3D image editing. 3D processing is also an integral part of our post-production systems.
Together with our industry partners, we are translating the results of our research into products, helping provide viewers with an even better 3D experience.
