Digital Cine Camera – ARRI-D20/D21

High resolution filmstyle camera ARRI-D20/D21

Together with our industrial partner ARRI Cine Technik, Munich, the digital filmstyle camera ARRI-D20/D21 was developed. With this type of camera the often required film look for digital cameras could be convincingly be provided. A 6 Megapixel CMOS sensor and innovative camera electronics make D20 a perfect combination of digital technology and user-friendly and familiar handling of a film camera. The D20 has a HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and offers in the data mode also an image size of 2880 x 2160 pixels.

A short glance at the ARRI-D20:

  • handling and robustness similiar to a normal film camera
  • image quality comparable to the 35mm-film
  • low depth of field
  • combination of optical and digital camera components (optical viewfinder - electronic camera body)
  • high dynamic range and optimal color rendering
  • uncompressed recording
  • time lapse and slow motion

To store digital data, Fraunhofer IIS provides a portable hard-disc-based field recorder solution, called FlashBOX. Functionality of the FlashBOX allows recording of image sequences in raw-data-format via Single Link HD-SDI and Dual Link HD-SDI.
