Postproduction
The group Digital Cinema works on new technologies for postproduction of movies, e.g. on new workflows based on scalable formats like JPEG2000. Complex processing steps and workflows can be handled in an easy way without need of expert knowledge. Adaptive algorithms working either on Multi-Core systems or on GPU based graphic cards guarantee the highest possible quality.
The department Moving Picture Technologies has done a lot of research during the last years, so that it can present today many solutions in this business field.
Interoperable Master Format (IMF)
The postproduction industry is looking for new filebased mastering workflows to replace previous tape based processing steps. Fraunhofer will contribute to this initiative and will offer its expertise originated from DCP and archive solutions to achieve this objective.
