LDV-Card: Ultra Low Delay SDI Framegrabber Card

LDV-Card is an SDI framegrabber card with special focus on real-time applications where low delay is critical:

  • video conferencing, telepresence systems
  • interactive gaming
  • medical imaging
  • quality control

LDV-Card grabs image slices to keep the delay minimal. Data integrity is guaranteed. All image processing and data manipulation can be disabled to ensure grabbing of unaltered data. Synchronous grabbing from both inputs is possible, which makes the card ideal for 3D applications .

The design can be customized and extended by:

  • slots for client-specific processing units
  • adding inputs/outputs
  • supporting additional video formats
  • changing the form factor (e.g. low profile)

Fraunhofer IIS also offers a software-based H.264 encoding solution for IP-streaming of encoded HD video. In combination with the LDV-Card this features an end-to-end-delay of less than 100 ms.
