Eureka 147 DAB

The Fraunhofer IIS has been a pioneer in the development of the EU147 DAB system since 1987.

  • design of several integrated circuits for DAB receivers
  • pioneering in the field of gapfiller, particularly for L-band
  • development (specification, implementation and validation) of DAB data interfaces (e.g. Ensemble Transport Interface [ETI], Service Transport Interface [STI], Receiver Data Interface [RDI]) and a multimedia transport protocol (MOT)
  • development of a DAB system multiplexer
  • pioneering in data broadcasting services (data broadcasting studio technology, multimedia data server as a quasi standard within the DAB world)
  • development of DAB data interface cards and driver software for PCs
  • development of different types of data terminal devices; some of them were produced as commercial systems for the DAB pilot projects
  • development of computer-controlled DAB datastream analyzers for supervision of DAB broadcasting stations
