JINI
Plug & Play is a well-known mechanism on the Microsoft Windows powered PC. Plug & Play eased the installation problems of new hardware components in the existing system. Similar problems come up in a network with distributed components.
In such a complex system, it sometimes happens that a newly connected component needs services supplied from another component and offers its own services to other components. In this context Plug & Play provides methods for a service and a consumer to find each other without any intervention from a system administrator. In the next generation of cars, for example, many updatable systems will be installed providing completely new services and the download of new updates via the Internet will increase the pressure to realise Plug & Play mechanisms inside the car.
Jini is a Java based Plug & Play technology coming from SUN Microsystems. The concept of Jini defines systems containing hardware and software as services. Every new service can register itself in a dynamic Plug & Play manner. Jini offers the mechanisms to add or remove a service without any additional configuration expenditure. Because of its flexibility, the Jini technology is perfectly suited for each type of industry, product and company.
We implement for you:
- The design and realization of Plug & Play scenarios in distributed embedded systems
- Compact and problem-oriented Jini solutions for individual requirements
