Battery Management
Exact voltage and current profiles are needed for charging of a battery of any given chemistry; otherwise some of the capacity may be lost or the battery may be damaged or destroyed. For these charge profiles special charge regulators which produce the required voltages and currents from a DC source are used.
We develop highly integrated charge regulators ranging from simple analogue regulators to smart microprocessor-controlled digital regulators. These circuits are optimized to employ small external components and to enable their use in multi-chemistry battery systems.
- We design the necessary subcomponents such as voltage regulators and ADCs, but we also use commercial products to implement complete power supply systems.
- We use SBS (Smart Battery Standard), SMBus (System Management Bus), PMBus (Power Management Bus) and other standards to achieve compatibility with commercial systems.
- Moreover we test battery management systems and batteries using a professional battery test system which is also used for battery modelling.
