Ultra Low-Current WakeUp Receiver

Years of operation with constant reception

WakeUp receivers are very energy efficient integrated radio receivers. They control the radio channel constantly and generate a digital control signal when receiving special wakeup sequences. Thus, e. g. a standard radio module can be activated.

In wireless sensor networks WakeUp receivers increase the operating time and reduce the response times significantly. Battery-operated wireless sensor networks can now be implemented requiring only low maintenance since several years of operational time are achieved. The researchers at Fraunhofer IIS developed a WakeUp receiver in 180nm low-cost CMOS technology.
