Positioning and Navigation
Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits
A Core Competency of Fraunhofer IIS
Positioning and tracking have a multitude of uses and are of benefit to a range of industries. Applications include tracking of forklift trucks in warehouses, of soccer players on the field or of security staff on company premises. Each application obviously requires specific technology, since system requirements vary greatly depending on the intended environment and the degree of accuracy needed. Positioning Center of Excellence in Nuremberg
To be able to meet the requirements associated with this diversity of applications, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS concentrates its positioning and navigation expertise in a single research unit in Nuremberg, where more than 70 engineers and computer scientists in three departments pool their wide-ranging expertise. For the purpose of evaluating research results, we operate several local test beds.
