Up until 2009, Fraunhofer IIS worked with various partners on the AMULETT research project, which was concerned with cooperative sensing technology based on transponder systems. This technology is intended principally for the protection of vulnerable road users. The institute's main contribution to the project was the development of a positioning system based on angle estimation techniques. The project has been successfully completed, with further work now underway in the KO-TAG project.
