Pallet Flow

Trucking is increasingly causing environmental and traffic problems. Rising road tolls and fuel prices have prompted renewed efforts to transfer freight traffic from road to rail. However, combined road-rail transport continues to make up a very small proportion of the modal split of freight movements. The current lack of quality and acceptance is mainly due to the insufficient capacity of terminals and rail links.
PalletFlow aims to increase the efficiency of transport processes, and so help save time and money, by optimizing multimodal transport hubs through the use of innovative real-time locating systems.
Fraunhofer IIS has developed, and is refining, appropriate tracking technologies in the form of wireless infrastructures and tags which enable fast tracking of objects at transport hubs.
