AoA – Angle of Arrival
The angle-of-arrival (AOA) method measures angles in real time and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. A robust infrastructure makes it possible to perform hundreds of measurements per second and locate moving objects, with accuracy varying from a few degrees to tenths of a degree.
In a first step, the angles at which the signal strikes a number of antenna elements are measured. A position is then derived by triangulation, with motion and reference data also considered. This technique works well in almost all frequency bands and irrespective of the wireless technology used.
