Sensor Fusion

Since requirements can be manifold, depending on the intended use, a single technology is often insufficient. It is therefore crucial to combine technologies in appropriate ways and integrate them on a common platform.

In this way, the strengths of individual technologies are used to full advantage while their weaknesses are compensated for. As a result, it is possible to implement pervasive, reliable positioning applications for a wide variety of purposes and environments, for instance navigation systems that can better cope with adverse conditions. If several technologies are combined, it is possible, for example, to transition seamlessly from indoor to outdoor positioning and to switch transparently between car navigation and pedestrian wayfinding.
