Aim of this project is to improve early detection of recurrent leukemic blasts to prevent relapse and control therapeutic improvements. Therefore, antibodies coupled with labeled nanoparticles will be combined with methods of automated microscopy and image analysis to allow fast, precise and cost-effective diagnostics with high specificity and sensitivity.
Therefore, Fraunhofer IIS develops an automated microscopy system for the scanning of bone marrow samples with oil immersion microscopy and fluorescence imaging. In addition to that, automated algorithms for the detection, segmentation and classification of bone marrow cells will be developed and validated on an extensive sample database of over 900 samples.
