Telepresence for the living room with the Fraunhofer Audio Communication Engine

With the Audio Communication Engine from Fraunhofer IIS it is possible to get together with friends and family – however far away they might be – for social activities such as general conversation and the playing of virtual board games. Making contact over the Internet in this way is as natural as having a conversation with everyone present in the same room. The set-up to be shown at CeBIT is part of “Together Anywhere, Together Anytime” (TA2), an EU project exploring the ways in which technology can support group-to-group communication. Why not try out the Audio Communication Engine for yourself?

Whereabouts - Localization of Persons and Objects

Save money in logistics. Gain higher security with operations. Or simply get new kind of information about a soccer game. The knowledge about the exact place of objects, persons and vehicles helps to optimize processes or to quickly get task forces out of danger. Fraunhofer IIS offers its localization solutions on radio basis. We develop complete systems and support the customer in the application of our localization technology based on our broad knowledge in logistics, security or leisure applications.

FitnessSHIRT – Improving Safety through Telemonitoring

Emergency responders help those in distress, avert dangers and save lives, often risking their own health or lives in the process. To improve responders’ own safety, Fraunhofer IIS scientists are developing systems for continuous monitoring of key vital signs.
Embedded in a T-shirt are devices for measuring heart rate and respiration. The data collected is wirelessly transmitted to a control room. This makes it possible to warn responders of critical situations and enables them to save colleagues from danger.

Mobile Guidance and Information Systems

Seamless Localization using WLAN, GPS and GSM

Fraunhofer IIS presents "awiloc", its technology for self-sufficient positioning in cities and buildings. Basis is a robust localization, which combines the detection over WLAN, GPS and cellular radio. We demonstrate the application of localization for the optimization of evacuations by producing live movement data and for an individual guidance system, which considers person specific needs (e.g. handicaps). Fostered in the context of the project REPKA by the Federal Ministry for education and research BMBF.

Infoscreens go Web2.0

Bills, posters - one single advertisement for everybody: That was yesterday. The advertising strategy of the future uses web2.0 and digital media. Commercials and advertising information will become interactive, offer customized, target-group oriented multi-media informations. With the face and facial expression detection software SHORE (TM) we showcase a technology which can offer information corresponding to the user. SHORE (TM) can be used for new designed interactive infoscreens which provide information corresponding to the spectators in front of the screen. SHORE(TM) can be used for quantitative and qualitative market research and can be adapted to different test scenarios. Real-time analysis and documentation of the results can be included.
