Exhibits:Telepresence for the living room: Join your friends and family for virtual board games via video conference
With the audio and video technologies from Fraunhofer IIS it is possible to get together with friends and family – however far away they might be – for social activities such as general conversation and the playing of virtual board games. Making contact over the Internet in this way is as natural as having a conversation with everyone present in the same room. The set-up to be shown at IFA is part of “Together Anywhere, Together Anytime” (TA2), an EU project exploring the ways in which technology can support group-to-group communication.

Digital Radio DRM+ Live Broadcasting chain
At IFA, Fraunhofer IIS will present a DRM+ Live Broadcasting chain in conjunction with RFmondial, University Hannover and Niedersächsische Landesmedienanstalt. DRM+ is the much-publicised extension of the well-established DRM digital radio standard for higher frequencies including UKW. To demonstrate this new standard at IFA, the Fraunhofer DRM ContentServer™ will be employed to generate a DRM+ radio signal that includes 5.1 MPEG Surround sound and the Journaline® text information service. This signal will be broadcast with the RFmondial DRM+ modulator. At the Fraunhofer booth, visitors can enjoy the audio signal in outstanding 5.1 surround quality and can browse the text information service.
