MPEG Surround® - Surround sound for mobile multimedia
MPEG Surround is the new standard for the delivery of stereo-compatible high-quality surround sound at stereo bit-rates. The numerous applications of the technology include in-car audio and mobile multimedia players. A virtual surround headphone mode enables users to experience 5.1 surround music or movies on their mobile devices. Fraunhofer IIS supplies optimized MPEG audio encoder and decoder libraries for mobile applications and mobile platforms.
awiloc® - Urban Wireless LAN Positioning
Positioning is the precondition for a whole host of applications, including guidance/location systems for cities, museums and emergency services. Fraunhofer’s awiloc® self-contained Wireless LAN positioning technology provides an array of tools and services that allow our partners to construct their own locationbased service and reference databases for high-performance indoor and outdoor positioning. At MWC, our experts will show visitors how to utilise awiloc® for mobile platforms or location based services.
DVB-SH IP for mobile entertainment
The DVB-SH standard was developed specifically to convey multimedia broadcasting content to an unlimited number of portable and mobile devices while making highly effective use of spectrum by means of frequency-sharing. Fraunhofer’s DVB-SH demodulator technology can enable a variety of mobile applications, including in-car A / V, entertainment via mobile phone and professional projects, as well as allowing for straightforward mapping to ASIC or FPGA circuitry designs.
