High Precision in Road Construction: Use Of Satellite Navigation For Asphalt Machines

The Fraunhofer IIS, together with MOBA and other partners, has successfully concluded the „ASPHALT“ project (Advanced Galileo navigation System for asPHALt fleeT machines). The concluding meeting took place close to Enspel (Westerwald). With the aid of satellite navigation, road construction can be significantly improved in the future. To this end, the IIS has developed a special Galileo/GPS/EGNOS receiver.

s-net® is a highly energy efficient solution in the field of wireless sensor networks. The Fraunhofer IIS technology is now available as evaluation kit and is being showcased
for the first time at the trade show Hannover Messe
Industrie. With s-net®, planned applications can be tested
at the designated location, whether metrology, surveillance or control application.

In the European project »SmartFiber« scientists are developing a fully embeddable system for a continuous
structural monitoring of composite structures. The intelligent micro systems enable an automated
high-performance monitoring in dynamic and hash environments.
The project consortium consists of European research institutions and industrial partners
including FBGS Technologies GmbH and the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS.

Fraunhofer IIS is to introduce a broad range of MPEG audio codecs such as MPEG-4 HE-AAC v2 and MPEG Surround, suitable for implementation on Android-based mobile phones at the 2010 Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, February, 15-18). These efficient implementations of state-of-the-art MPEG audio technologies complete the software portfolio of Fraunhofer IIS, a reliable supplier of ready-to-run-software with more than 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of MPEG audio codecs.

Fraunhofer IIS has now developed a wireless system for locating medical equipment and blood products as well as for condition monitoring.
