    Exercise is key to a healthy lifestyle. Motivating people to exercise more is a way of contributing to their health. At MEDICA 2009, Fraunhofer IIS will demonstrate varied approaches to measuring, analyzing and assessing ­physical activity. These involve small electronic devices that provide users with exercise suggestions and instructions and give immediate feedback.

    Images taken using an endoscope are not always easy to read. A new image-processing system automatically searches for similar-looking pictures, accompanied by a diagnosis, to serve as a comparative reference. The system can be seen at Medica 2007 in Düsseldorf from November 14 to 17 (Hall 10, Stand F05).

    Help is at hand for cardiovascular patients: In future, a smart sensor network will monitor sufferers and alert the doctor when necessary. Fraunhofer researchers will be presenting the ‘mobile health assistant’ at the CeBIT fair in Hanover from March 15 to 21, 2007 (Hall 9, Stand B36).
