The project ways4me stands for "Barrier-free mobility for everyone" and was established by the "Fachhochschule Joanneum" and its partners. The research project was originally developed in order to facilitate everyday mobility of visually impaired people.
Thereby, ways4me brings together in- and outdoor navigation with retrieval of realtime information, communication with public transport as well as ticketing combined with an intuitive handling. The technology awiloc® by Fraunhofer IIS constitutes the basis for indoor positioning.
Based on existing timetable information systems and the mapping tool OSM (Open Street Map) the project ways4me can be extended by several add-on applications. In 2015 the target-oriented service received the Austrian State Award for Mobility by the Federal Ministry for Infrastructure, Innovation and Technology.

Since the solution can be adapted to numerous target groups ways4me aims at reliable mobility for people with special needs.
