Development of Integrated Sensor Interfaces

The characteristics of sensor systems are determined not only by the sensor element but also, crucially, by the sensor interface and the signal processing. We are able to provide high-precision, power-saving, inexpensive, and extremely compact solutions by integrating sensor interfaces and sensor signal processing. Our expertise is the development of ASICs for MEMS, capacitive sensors, piezo sensors, radiation detectors, gas sensors, and chemical sensors, including safety-critical applications.

We work together with our customers to develop tailor-made solutions, supporting them throughout the development process with the following services:

As a Fraunhofer Institute, we always place special emphasis on customer benefit within the scope of our collaboration. To this end, we can support either the entire development process or specific sub-processes with the following services:

  • failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • test specification
  • circuit development
  • coordination and control of supply chains

The analysis, characterization, and qualification of integrated sensor systems is carried out in specialized laboratories.

Integrated Sensor Systems for Safety-Critical Applications

In addition to the general development of sensor systems, we also offer the following services for safety-critical applications in the fields of aviation, automotive manufacturing, industry, and medical engineering:

  • analysis by means of FMEA, fault injection, Markov modeling

ASIC/ASSPs and IPs

Depending on the requirements of our customers, we develop

  • application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for use in customer applications
  • application-specific standard products (ASSPs) sold as customer products under their brand name and
  • macro-cells, hardware IPs and software IPs for use in customer custom ICs
