IT Specialist – Systems Integration

At Fraunhofer IIS, IT specialists in systems integration are tasked with the administration of the IIS computer environment. At our institute, this includes the following activities:

  • Configuration and administration of workplace computers (primarily Windows PCs with standard applications and specialized software, but also Mac and UNIX systems) and of the network infrastructure
  • Administration of file and application servers
  • IT support in scientific projects
  • Software management

These activities require a high level of willingness to learn and a strong capacity for teamwork, as well as a structured and analytical approach. As solutions aren’t always found in conventional ways, you should also be able to think creatively. To qualify for this training program, candidates require a good intermediate secondary school-leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss).

If places are available on this training program, you will find details in our Job advertisements for new recruits and experienced professionals..

Personal reports from past trainees

Daniel Giese

Trainee IT Specialist – Systems Integration from 2010 to 2013

I particularly liked the relaxed working atmosphere in my department.

I would definitely choose to train at Fraunhofer IIS again, as I not only expanded my knowledge but was also able to develop enormously as a person.

Today, I work in the IT department focusing on Linux operating systems, laptops, and telephony. I’ve been working for a year now, but I’ll be doing further training programs over the course of 2014.

When I asked what opportunities there were for me to do further training, I was given excellent advice. After several discussions with department heads and group leaders, as well as with my former trainer, we found the perfect solution for me.

I find the working atmosphere at Fraunhofer IIS very positive.
