Possibilities for Development

Continuous inflow of creative ideas generated by new employees assures the success of a research institute. That's the reason why the greater proportion of our positions are limited in time. However, we do not see this as a disadvantage, but as a chance. In the course of their contribution to the institute we offer our employees manifold opportunities to prepare for their career afterwards.

As an example, we promote further qualification by completing a doctorate during the stay at the institute or the participation in a MBA Program in addition to the job. Apart from this, comprehensive further education opportunities are at our employees' disposal to further develop their personal profile and to cope with challenging project demands. In addition to mono-disciplinary topics our training courses even comprise business administration, project management, personality development as well as language courses of different levels.
Furthermore, we support our scientists on their way into self-employment. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft welcomes and supports the wish of several employees to establish their own company on the basis of technical developments. The Fraunhofer Venture Group patronizes those willing to spin-off in all phases of setting up a company.

Starting a career at the institute is also possible, of course. We provide, for instance, an extensive qualification program to prospective managers to help them prepare for their new role.

Compatibility of Family and Career


Different organizational solutions to harmonize family and work exist at Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, e.g. flexible working hours or the possibility to work from home. Moreover, Fraunhofer IIS has made reservations at the day nursery near the Institute.
