At the 30th Tonmeistertagung in Cologne, Fraunhofer IIS will showcase part of an MPEG-H Audio broadcast chain that includes production tools for the creation of MPEG-H Audio metadata, a Hbb TV demo with interactive sound, as well as a 3D soundbar.
MPEG-H Audio enables broadcasters and content producers to create and transmit attractive programs with immersive and interactive sound. The MPEG-H audio system is designed to be compatible with equipment used today for broadcast and streaming. Since May 2017, MPEG-H has been on air 24/7 and is the first next-generation audio codec in a regular terrestrial 4K TV service: for its new UHD TV system, South Korea makes use of the advanced features of immersive and interactive audio – powered by MPEG-H Audio.
