Mechatronics Technician

During their training at Fraunhofer IIS, mechatronics engineers are mainly employed in the institute's workshops and laboratories.

The training content includes:

  • Pre-assembly of components,
  • Manual and mechanical machining, cutting and forming
  • Installation and assembly of machines and systems
  • Programming mechatronic systems
  • Installing and testing hardware and software components
  • Setting up and testing electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
  • Laying supply lines
  • Commissioning, including functional and safety tests
  • Manufacture and maintenance of mechatronic products and systems

The mechatronics technician apprenticeship is a cross-sectional occupation. Mechatronics technicians are trained and employed in various sectors of the economy. Due to the diverse training, it is possible to work in all departments of the institute with a technical background.

In addition to a penchant for technology and electronics, the job requires a good knowledge of mathematics, spatial awareness and the ability to work in a team.
