ITG Conference on Radio-based Positioning

Precise. Intelligent. Connected.

Radio-based positioning plays a crucial role in modern communication systems – from applications in semi-autonomous systems to fully automated goods booking processes on the shop floor. It is an important functionality that spans various technologies and architectures, from low-power devices and custom chipsets to features that are natively integrated into 3GPP mobile networks. To enable the numerous use cases, a combination of system and signal design, as well as algorithms (including both classical and data-driven methods), is required.

The ITG Conference on Radio Positioning 2025 conference brought together leading experts from research and industry to discuss the latest developments, technologies and algorithms in the field of radio positioning. The conference shed light on how existing radio systems can be further developed so that they support positioning as a function, how future positioning systems should be designed, which classic and data-driven algorithms are used and what potential modern systems offer.

The conference showed how innovative approaches such as Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS), machine learning for more precise positioning and new 6G technologies are helping to shape the future of communication systems and radio-based positioning. The technical programme was complemented by practical demonstrations and the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from the entire spectrum of positioning technologies.
