The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS conducts cutting-edge international research into microelectronic and information technology system solutions and services. It is the largest institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, one of the leading organizations for application-oriented research.
At its location in Nuremberg, more than 220 employees conduct research in the context of AI, IoT and sustainability: they develop technologies for positioning and networking moving objects and people and research how value creation can be made more efficient, sustainable and resilient through data and digital technologies.
The technology and data science expertise built up here is also widely applicable from a public perspective: for example, the mioty® communication and networking technology offers wireless IoT solutions for smart city applications - e.g. smart metering or green space irrigation - as well as resilient and energy-efficient systems for civil protection and disaster control, which are characterized not only by robust transmission but also by low maintenance and operating costs. With our platform solutions "KoGe" and "ARGOS" based on AI analyses of geographical image and satellite data, we not only ensure greater safety in municipal hazard analysis by using artificial intelligence to analyze buildings, rivers and forests from the air, assess them for risks and partially automate and thus clarify compliance with response times as efficiently as possible. Our platforms can also be used to identify derelict commercial sites at low cost in order to reactivate them for new uses.
All of these developments are data and technology sovereign solutions from Germany and Europe: for more safety and civil protection in your municipality!
