Fraunhofer IIS Introduces Light-Field Plug-In Suite for The Foundry’s Nuke

Erlangen/Amsterdam, NL, September 9, 2015 – IBC, Hall 8, Booth B.80: The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS today at IBC demos the integration of its light-field plug-in suite in The Foundry’s Nuke. The integration provides professionals with an easy-to-use tool to meet the rapidly growing need for processing multi-camera data in today’s professional film sets. Fraunhofer IIS´ light-field technology enables professionals to take advantage of multi- camera array data based on a single shot in post-production to provide advanced editing, special effects and other creative possibilities previously only possible with CGI.

Fraunhofer IIS Unveils First Customer and Introduces Licensing Model for Lici®codec

Used within keyboard/ video/mouse (KVM) solutions, the demo will be showcased with partners IHSE GmbH and Viscon GmbH as part of the new IBC Content Everywhere Technology in Action Theater. Fraunhofer IIS now introduces its licensing model for all suppliers and manufacturers of professional equipment including camera applications and Video over IP.

Real-time Video Production: Fraunhofer IIS Introduces the World's Fastest Portable Multi-Camera System at the IBC

Erlangen/Amsterdam, September 2, 2015 – IBC, hall 8, booth B 80: At the 2015 International Broadcasting Convention, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is introducing HIGGS, the world's fastest portable multi-camera system for live video productions. HIGGS supports up to five portable cameras and features an easy-to-use app including a flexible video editor. Video footage can be broadcasted to all major Content Distribution Networks in real time.

Fraunhofer IIS announces integration of its lightweight coding technology into IHSE KVM extender

Erlangen, Germany/Las Vegas, USA, April 13, 2015 – NAB Show 2015, center hall, booth C 8931: The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS announces the integration of its lightweight coding technology LICI into the KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) extender of its partner IHSE GmbH, a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced KVM devices. LICI enables video transmission over data lines with limited bandwidth without frame drops or sacrificing quality.

Fraunhofer IIS presents an intelligent sensor for anonymous video analysis at the MWC in Barcelona

Erlangen/Barcelona, February 27, 2015 – Mobile World Congress, Hall 7, Exhibit Booth 7G31: At the Mobile World Congress MWC being held on March 2–5, 2015, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS will premier an intelligent sensor for carrying out anonymous video analyses. Referred to as AVARD (Anonymous Video Analytics for Retail and Digital Signage), the system does not transmit video sequences and instead sends only anonymous metadata. The system will be certified through an independent and transparent evaluation and validation process to ensure compliance with European data privacy and security regulations. AVARD is designed for analyzing customer behavior and can be used with digital advertising platforms or in retail stores.

Integration of the Fraunhofer IIS DCP Software easyDCP with Quantel’s Post Production Environment

September 13, 2013: The Fraunhofer-Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and Quantel announce at IBC 2013 their cooperation to innovate and facilitate the workflow for content creation in the field of DCP-generation directly in the Quantel post production environment. Dedicated to enable new creative tools and make the process more cost-effective for post production houses, the easyDCP Plug-ins from Fraunhofer IIS will be available in the latest version of Quantel’s Pablo Rio high quality color and finishing system as well as Pablo, iQ and eQ systems.

Fraunhofer to Launch Advanced HDR Camera Technologies at IBC 2013

September 9, 2013: Fraunhofer IIS, the world’s renowned source for audio and multimedia technologies, today announces its Department of Moving Picture Technologies to unveil new innovative camera and acquisition technologies for high dynamic range video (HDR) at IBC. The Institute is introducing two different ways for HDR imaging: a specialized HDR camera and new camera array to provide brilliant HDR images for the most challenging lighting conditions on set.

Blackmagic Design integrates Fraunhofer IIS easyDCP software in postproduction suite DaVinci Resolve 10

April 8, 2013: Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and Blackmagic Design just announced their cooperation to enhance the post production software DaVinci Resolve at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. Plug-ins for the generation and play-out of digital cinema packages (DCP) – well-known from the easyDCP software developed by Fraunhofer scientists – will be available for the next release of DaVinci Resolve 10. Blackmagic Design and Fraunhofer IIS will be presenting the solution on NAB at the Fraunhofer Alliance Digital Cinema booth, Center Hall (Bavarian Pavilion) C7843, and at Blackmagic Design, South Hall SL218.

Fraunhofer IIS Supports “European Film Gateway EFG1914” Project to Preserve Cultural Film Heritage

Press Release 12.04.2012: The Erlangen based Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS partners in the project European Film Gateway EFG1914. The institute provides technical and scientific expertise on digitizing film material and photographs from and about World War I to create a wide availability of the collection. Since the project’s kick-off in February 2012, 20 European film archives as well as five businesses and research institutions have been cooperating in digitizing up to 650 selected hours of film and about 500,000 photos, film posters, censorship material etc. from the period. The digital collection will be made available to the public.

Berlinale Relies on Fraunhofer IIS Expertise to Test Digital Film Formats
