Fraunhofer IIS: Institute Director Dr. Bernhard Grill celebrates his 60th birthday

Dr. Bernhard Grill, since 2016 Institute Director at Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen with responsibility for audio and media technologies, celebrates his 60th birthday on January 5, 2020. He is one of the co-developers of the mp3 format.

New chair at the Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics

Since January 1st, 2020, Prof. Albert Heuberger (Fraunhofer IIS) has been the new spokesman of the Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics’ board of directors as well as the chairman of the steering committee of the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD). His new spokesmanship also makes him a member of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s presidential council. The new deputy spokesman is Prof. Christoph Kutter (Fraunhofer EMFT).

AI expert Prof. Alexander Martin to become third Director at Fraunhofer IIS

As of November 1, 2019, Prof. Alexander Martin is a director at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen, Germany. Since 2010, he has headed the chair for industrial mathematics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). In 2015, he also took on responsibility for the Analytics department in the Supply Chain Services research unit at Fraunhofer IIS.

Deepening and extending strategic cooperation between Bilkent University and Fraunhofer IIS

Ankara, Turkey, June 4, 2014: Professors from Bilkent University and scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS are co-hosting a symposium on a wide range of current research topics in the fields of communications technology, image processing and medical engineering. The aim of the Bilkent-Fraunhofer IIS symposium is to further develop the collaborative relationship that has already existed for several years and to work together in common fields of research through bilateral or EU projects.

Fraunhofer IIS researchers receive Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize for 3D Hall sensor

10.6.2013: Honoring the development of the magnetic field sensor 3D Hall sensor, Michael Hackner, Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Hohe and Dr.-Ing. Markus Stahl- Offergeld of Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen receive the Joseph von Fraunhofer Price 2013. This prize has been awarded by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft every year since 1978 in recognition of outstanding scientific work by members of its staff leading to the solution of application-oriented problems. Over 200 researchers have meanwhile seen their work honored with this prize, which is now valued at 50,000 euros. The award ceremony took place in Hannover on 10th of June.
