Prof. Albert Heuberger is executive director of Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen. He also holds the chair for information technology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Before, he was head of the IIS department “Communications” with the main focuses “Digital Broadcasting” and “Localization and Communication” in Nürnberg. After his doctoral thesis on “Quality of service in digital satellite broadcasting” professor Heuberger returned to Erlangen via the Ilmenau University of Technology. His main research focuses are transmission technology for digital broadcasting and for intelligent energy networks (smart grids) as well as telematic systems.
