Fraunhofer IIS's Industry 4.0 5G Positioning and Communication Testbed, which has received an award from the 5G-ACIA, demonstrates pioneering concepts for the digitalisation and automation of production processes.
The focus is on state-of-the-art 5G technologies, precise positioning systems and intelligent networking solutions that set new standards for industrial production. With Open RAN and multi-vendor environments, the testbed offers a practical platform for validating industrial communication and positioning solutions. Companies from the production, logistics and critical infrastructure sectors - including ports, railways and airports - can test and optimise their individual use cases here.
The 3D model allows you to immerse yourself in the digitally recreated test hall. You have the opportunity to virtually control central elements of our testbed, such as the 3D robot arm or the mobile high shelves, and thus explore the possibilities of our testbed in a realistic way.
Test environments are at the heart of many innovations. They allow new technologies, products and processes to be tested under controlled conditions before they are put into practice. But how do you ensure that these tests run realistically and efficiently - around the clock? The best way is with a highly flexible test environment that can automate a wide range of scenarios and run them under real conditions. The Industry 4.0 5G Positioning and Communication testbed has been endorsed again in 2024 as a 5G Testbed by the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation 5G-ACIA, following its initial recommendation in 2021.
