Scalable communication for large, dynamic networks.

Overview

mioty multiConnect is an extension of mioty technology that supports large-scale, decentralized communication structures. The system enables direct communication between participants and does not rely on traditional multipoint routing mechanisms. This enables robust and scalable networking even with a large number of participants.

Network structure

The network structure of mioty multiConnect is based on a direct connection between individual participants. Multiple network nodes can be deployed in parallel to ensure network coverage and connectivity. This results in high availability and reliability. A single radio node can establish up to 140 simultaneous, parallel, and uncoordinated radio connections with different participants. Centralized routing structures are not required, ensuring that the system remains efficient and stable even as the number of participants grows. This enables deployment in large-scale networks with thousands of nodes.

Communication principle

The communication principle of mioty multiConnect is based on a quasi-duplex method. Participants are able to send data and receive messages simultaneously without the need for time synchronization. This feature increases the system’s flexibility and reduces the complexity of network configuration. At the same time, it achieves a high degree of resilience against collisions and interference, as transmissions can occur independently of one another.

Performance data and range

The performance parameters of mioty multiConnect are designed for energy-efficient and reliable data transmission over long distances. The data rate is up to 50 bits/s in Ultra-Low-Power mode and up to 400 bits/s in High-Data-Rate mode. Latency is up to one second in ULP mode and can be reduced to approximately 250 milliseconds in HDR mode. Message lengths typically range from 10 to 200 bytes, with support for a high number of messages per participant per day.

 

Communication takes place in the sub-GHz frequency band and achieves ranges of up to 15 kilometers under typical conditions. Under specific conditions, such as line-of-sight, significantly greater distances can be achieved. At the same time, power consumption remains low at approximately 1.2 watts, making mioty multiConnect particularly suitable for long-lasting and low-maintenance IoT applications

mioty multiConnect is suitable for a wide range of applications that require reliable and scalable communication among many participants. Because it can operate even large networks without central coordination, the technology is particularly well-suited for use in expansive and dynamic environments.

A key area of application is logistics, such as tracking containers or vehicles. In addition, mioty multiConnect offers advantages in industrial IoT applications where numerous sensors and devices must transmit data simultaneously.
