XEye 5009
Non-destructive 3D crack detection in concrete components under realistic loading using the XEye 5009.
Application Area
The Xeye 5009 was developed for use in industrial CT systems that demand the highest standards in resolution, speed, and radiation hardness. Within the GULLIVER project (link), the X-ray camera enables non-destructive 3D crack detection in concrete components under realistic loading conditions.
Key Advantages
- Radiation hardness up to 9 MeV – suitable for use with linear accelerators for high-density materials
- Novel scintillator design – scintillator placed at shielding level, resulting in minimal object-to-detector distance and resolutions below 100 µm
- Crack detection from 100 µm – even in reinforced concrete with densities of 2.7–7.8 g/cm³
- Scalable configuration – from high-resolution to high-speed, depending on the inspection task
Typical Application Scenarios
- CT of large concrete test beams (10–100 cm diameter)
- Force-induced 3D crack propagation under loads up to 60 t
- High-speed imaging of dynamic processes
- Quality inspection of battery cells and industrial components
