What scientists should do next

Objects that can communicate, TV that feels like you’re at the movies, pocket X-ray machines... sounds like science fiction. But then who knows? At the Long Night of the Sciences 2017, visitors to Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen got to put their questions to scientists. Professor Albert Heuberger, director of Fraunhofer IIS, joined the scientists to answer the questions and explain what may soon be possible.

Humanity

One visitor says: We should never forget that the purpose of technology should be to serve humanity.

Professor Heuberger agrees and explains why...

X-ray technology

One of our younger visitors asks: Is there an X-ray app that can tell you if you’ve broken a bone?

Our scientist Joelle Clausen explains...

Virtual Reality

Another of our younger visitors asks: Is fully immersive virtual reality just around the corner?

Our expert René Dünkler explains...

Holodeck

Another of our younger visitors asks: Will we experience virtual reality in everyday life?

Our expert René Dünkler explains...

Hologram

Our expert René Dünkler explains...

Sensors
