ASIC and IC Design Technologies and Competencies

Fraunhofer IIS is one of Europe’s leading IC design institutions. We work independently of any one technology or manufacturer, and our services cover the following areas: mixed signal ASIC development, digital IC and SoC development, RF IC development, and ASICs and IPs for wireline data transmission.

IC development is one of the basic core competencies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and is founded on:

  • A structured design process with design reviews and FMEAs (failure mode and effects analyses)
  • Experience in traceability and test specification creation for series production
  • Mastery of process variations and environmental factors in IC design
  • Knowledge of yield optimization at the design, layout and testing stages
  • Experience of transfer to series production (assembly, qualification and testing)
