Machine Learning Forum

Networking between industry and research

The goal of machine learning, a subfield of artificial intelligence, is not to program computers explicitly, but instead to enable them to learn independently from existing data. This is appealing to companies working e.g. in Industrie 4.0, production, or automotive sectors. They can use this method to collect data effectively, structure it, and use it to reach quick results and decisions.

The Machine Learning Forum project is a collaboration between various chairs at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Fraunhofer IIS. Its primary aim is to promote the exchange of theoretical and practical expertise in the field of artificial intelligence.

At the initial Machine Learning Forum event on September 28, 2018 at Fraunhofer IIS in Nuremberg, we asked representatives of industry and research how beneficial they consider machine learning to be and what advantages they see in it for their companies.

Dr. Jens Barth, Project Manager, STABILO International GmbH
