Automotive Audio has evolved dramatically to true multichannel playback systems, fully integrated and adjusted to the specific car. Today some of the most advanced sound technologies are being developed and applied in Automotive Audio. The impact of streaming, ride-share, autonomy, Battery Electric Vehicle’s (BEV’s), ownership models and car share could have a profound effect on the way we think about sound in and around vehicles and microphone challenges and use cases. The conference will give an overview of the present state-of-the-art in some specific topics, and addresses many of the new scientific disciplines involved in this still-emerging field.

We are bringing in-car immersive audio to Michigan! In the MPEG-H Audio demo car, Fraunhofer showcases the spectacular opportunities the immersive 360 Reality Audio system, which is based on MPEG-H Audio, brings to the automotive world. Streaming services such as Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, WoWoW, and nugs.net provide an ever-increasing number of immersive music titles (7000+) on mobile and living room devices already today, and their subscribers expect a 3D Audio experience to become available anywhere and anytime.

Thanks to the fixed seating positions and acoustic characteristics of cars, they are a perfect playback environment and Fraunhofer is happy to offer car manufacturers the opportunity to enrich their vehicles with best-in-class immersive sound. Take a seat in our production Audi RS Q8 and experience perfectly tuned immersive sound over loudspeakers and additional RSE headphones.
