Our Offer

The Fraunhofer IIS develops hardware and software for the wireless networking technology s-net® and thus provides the basis for product development. We possess long-term experiences in the areas of system integration, transfer to series production as well as conformity testing and approval. Our offer includes various radio modules, as well as the licensing of the protocol construction kit or the reference design.

Radio Modules

Our radio modules enable the realization of complex wireless sensor networks, but can also be used in simple telemetry applications. Areas of application are Smart Objects, distributed data collection or localization purposes.

Radio module

S-NET-MOD-868-AM1

The Wireless 868 MHz radio module for s-net® battery powered mesh applications. AM1 is a cost-efficient HF module specially designed to connect objects for IoT applications. The module will soon be available at the international distributor “EBV Elektronik”.

s-net®

S7TAG radio module

The s-net®-S7 platform is the current sensor node platform of Fraunhofer IIS. Complex IoT applications are realized by modern, high-performance and cost-efficient components as well as the extended microcontroller memory.

s-net®

S7XS radio module

Thanks to the integrated rechargeable battery and the integrated wireless charging function, S7XS mobile use is particularly easy. The S7XS radio module is due to its particularly small enclosure with optional necklace and silicone cover extremely flexibly applicable in the area of person localization.

s-net®

S6TAG radio module

The s-net®-S6TAG radio module enables the implementation of various wireless systems, starting from simple telemetry applications up to complex wireless sensor network applications. This makes the S6TAG radio module the ideal hardware platform for Smart Objects and Cyber-Physical Systems.

Products

With our products, we offer finished solutions, which are developed with and for our customers! They are manufactured by our partners and meet special requirements that are not covered by already available products. With our solutions, our customers receive exactly the products and technologies they need for their individual applications:

Commissioning System

Pick-by-Light

Thanks to the s-net® technology, the wireless Pick-by-Light now enables flexible, low- maintenance order picking systems with low installation effort and flexible warehouse restructuring. Due to the extremely energy-saving networking of the s-net® technology, running times of several years can be realized.

Reference design

Our customers can adopt the hardware reference designs directly from the s-net® platform. The radio modules can usually be used unchanged, but also offer a solid starting point for you individual solution. System properties, sensors, interfaces or design can be individually adapted.

Within the scope of licensing a reference design, you will receive from us:

  • circuit diagram as PDF
  • parts list as XLS with type designation and manufacturer
  • layout as a tanner
  • available documentation (data sheet, pin assignment, dimensioning instructions, etc.)
  • if available: Test reports on the conformity of the sensor node with the standards EN 300 220 V2 and EN 301 489

Consulting

Different applications with specific characteristics require a balancing of priorities such as energy consumption versus latency of data transmission or the selection of the frequency band under security, interference and data rate aspects.

In every new project, we go through a requirements and design phase with our customers. This ensures that you get the solution you need. After defining your priorities, we outline the solution idea with you and work out a solution concept:

definition of protocol parameters

  • analysis of data amount, data backup, aggregation / filtering
  • energy concept / estimates
  • integration concept
  • coordination with other radio systems
  • operating concept
  • ID and addressing concept
  • software architecture
  • concepts for update / maintenance / monitoring of the modules in operation
  • definition of hardware platforms
  • interfaces / drivers
  • estimation of the realization effort with time schedule
