Assistance Systems

Our SHORE® technology can provide important supplementary information while minimizing the risk of accidents through measures such as reliably keeping drivers from dozing at the wheel via real-time detection and alerts.
Other scenarios include recognizing driver stress, speech recognition for voice-activated control of in-car systems or vehicle detection and classification.

Health Support

Pain Recognition for Patients

We continually develop processes designed for precise facial recognition using muscle movement. These developments are aimed at precisely recognizing and tracking individual human facial movements based on the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) created by the psychology profession. This type of technology has the potential to ease the work involved in treating critically-ill hospital patients through targeted pain therapy, thus improving the patients' well-being.

Assisted Living

For elderly and ill people who want to continue living at home, our facial recognition and analysis technology SHORE® can help them receive faster assistance and support in serious situations. Medical staff are also in a better position to provide remote care without requiring that patients give up their familiar private surroundings.

An extension of SHORE® consisting of a camera-based pulse recognition is currently being tested.

Market Research

Digital Signage

Digital billboards and info terminals that display advertisements and current news or provide us directions are making inroads into public life. Our technology enables these systems to carry out the so-called audience measurement in real-time. With the help of our SHORE® solution, data regarding the number of viewers, attention span and demographic distribution (age, gender) can be anonymously collected.

Advertising Impact

A current example in the field of market research is EMO Scan, a system developed by Fraunhofer IIS, the GfK market research think tank and psychologists from the University of Geneva. This system, which is capable of capturing emotions in real-time, is already being deployed in different parts of the world for testing responses to advertising spots.

Privacy by Design

The report published on June 8th 2017 by the Bavarian Data Protection Authority for the Private Sector (BayLDA) confirms that the AVARD system doesn’t process personal data but only anonymous data. Thus, AVARD ensures the compliance with data protection laws at 100%.
